BRC News: Week of November 7

  1. Last Day of Practice
  2. End of Season Party
  3. Spring Registration Information
  5. Winter Communications
  6. Website Pictures

We could not have asked for better weather today for our last race of the season.  The results are not up on Regatta Central yet but I saw several metals being awarded throughout the day.  Way to go Brighton!   A special thank you to the Brighton parents who kept everyone fed and happy at the tent site.

Monday, November 7, is the last day of practice.  Rowers will be doing the end of season clean up as they prepare the boats and other equipment for winter storage (and I understand a coxswain will be thrown into the river as a celebration for winning gold.)  Way to go Varsity Boys!. A special thank you to all our coaches for helping Brighton to have an awesome season.

Sunday, November 13 will be our end of season party.  The Costanza’s have been kind enough to offer their beautiful barn house in the Bristol Mountain area.  The weather appears to be working in our favor and the ride should be beautiful.  It will be about an hour drive from Brighton.  Car pool arrangements can be made for those who’s parents can’t attend.  This celebration is for both rowers and their families (Modified, Novice and Varsity)

***We are creating a Sign Up Genius for side dishes. I will post driving directions at the same time. Please look for a separate email with this information.

CORRECTION:Last week I mentioned a $5 donation to put toward coaches gifts. Since, I have been informed that we will not be collection donations at the end of this season…the kids do their special coach gifts at the end of year (so Spring 2012.)  I apologize for any confusion. I don’t believe anyone has donated anything yet but if you did, please let me know and I will hunt it down for you.

Spring Registration:  We will have Registration Packets for each rower at the season end party. It will include everything you need to know about our Spring Season.  We hope this packet will make registration easy and answer any questions you may have.  Information will also be made available on the website starting November 14, 2011.

Brighton Rowing Club will be selling raffle tickets for the opportunity to win one free varsity or novice dues for Spring 2012 (a $595 value).  Tickets will be available at the end of season party or you can contact Rhonda to purchase tickets. 1 chance for $25 or 3 chances for $50. Winner will be announced in January 2012.

Communications: While rowing season is officially over for the team, our communications will continue throughout the winter (but not weekly).  Please expect a few more emails over the next couple of weeks and then communications will slow down quite a bit over the holidays and become more active in January.  If you no longer wish to receive emails from BRC, please send us an email (

Website Pictures:  Rhonda will be adding rowing pictures to the website over the next two months. If you have some you would like us to add, please email them to    We are looking for this current season and past seasons.  NOTE: It would be very very helpful if you could label “who” is in each picture and the year/season if you know it.

Thank you again for an amazing season. It has been a pleasure “keeping everyone in the loop” through our weekly BRC news.  Any suggestions for better communication is always welcome. Have a great winter and we look forward to seeing you in January for our winter workouts. ~ Rhonda Miga, Webmaster
