Summer Rowing Opportunity for Novice/Varsity Rowers

Open to Rochester Area – Rowers and Coxswains

Here’s a great opportunity to improve technique, gain racing experience through intense competition, foster friendships with rowers from other clubs, and have fun.  This program is designed to raise the competitive level of its participants through intense specialized training and drilling with the focus on technique and racing skills. Video analysis and work on the ergometer will be essential supplements to the program’s on-water training. Participants must meet one of the following criteria:

High School athletes with one year of competitive (Novice, Varsity) rowing or coxing experience in eights or fours will be eligible for the program.  According to USRowing and Canadian Henley rules, A Junior is a competitor who in the current calendar year does not attain the age of 19, or who is and has been continuously enrolled in secondary school as a full time student seeking a diploma. A competitor thus ceases to be a junior after December 31 of the year of his or her 18th birthday, or of the year in which he or she completes the 12th grade of secondary school, having been a full time student, whichever is later. For the 2013 Regatta, an athlete born in 1995 or later shall be eligible to row Junior.

College Athletes U23 category, with one year of competitive (Novice, Varsity) rowing or coxing experience in eights or fours will be eligible for the program.*

*participation of U23 athletes is subject to reaching minimum enrollments required for boating at the Royal Canadian Henley.

Regatta’s: 7/14 Westside Rowing Club Invitational, 7/20-21 St. Catherine’s Invitational, 8/6-11 Royal Henley Regatta

It is recommended that athletes not miss more than two days of practice. Recurring conflicts should be discussed with coaches prior to start of season and may affect boating.

Program Registration Fee: Total Cost (includes t-shirt) $450. Passports or enhanced licenses required by all athletes.

Mandatory parents meeting, Wednesday, June 19

7:00 PM Submit required paperwork and order rowing top
7:30 PM Meeting, presentation and coaches meet with the parents

Practice starts Thursday 6/20/2013 NO EVENING PRACTICES

Boys: Monday – Friday 5:15a.m., Saturday practices *Times to be determined*

Girls: Monday – Friday 5:15a.m., Saturday practices *Times to be determined*
