Month: March 2014

!!!! BRC Registration Items Needed !!!!

Dear Families,  Marilyn Brooks will be at the boathouse, Monday, March 31 to collect needed/outstanding paperwork.  23 rowers are missing paperwork, electronic registration, or payment. If you are missing components of your registration, your rower will not be allowed on the water yet and will be doing a land erg practice.

The majority are missing the 2014 US Rowing Waiver.  If your rower is 18, they can sign this form themselves. If they are not 18 yet, the parent/guardian needs to sign.

There are too many missing items to list here. Marilyn and Katie have contacted everyone via email with a list of missing items. If you are unsure if you are missing something, please contact Marilyn at registrar@brightoncrew.org

Again, rowers will not be allowed on the water with missing registration items. Thank you for understanding.

5. Uniforms! – Novice and varsity, please order uniforms to race in if you do not already have one. If you can’t get one by the time of the Ohio regatta, we can organize for a varsity rower to lend you a uniform.

1. Practice Schedule

2. Land Parents

Please sign up for Land Parent for at least 2 dates this season. (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0E4CAFAA238-brcspring1).  If each family covers 2-3 dates, the calendar will be filled. WE STILL NEED COVERAGE THIS WEEK: TUES, THURS AND FRI!

3. Water Jugs.  Also, since there is no running water at the boat house, we need to keep 2 water coolers filled with drinkable water. BRC has 3 5-gallon, blue  or orange water coolers at the boathouse that we can rotate.  Pick up/consolidate the empties the on your day and bring it back the next practice (ex: Pick up Fri for Mon, Wed for Thurs.)  KIDS can do this, and lug the jug in their car pool!

4. Chaperones needed for Ohio. If you are interested in chaperoning, please let Tamara Abbott know. You can sign up to chaperone on the Sign up Genius for Ohio here (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0E4CAFAA238-hoover1). However, Tamara will be rooming chaperones together so we are hoping to have two males and one female chaperone or three female chaperones or a husband/wife chaperone team would work well too.

Cost of Ohio – Tamara Abbott is still calculating the cost of this trip.  Once she has our entry fees and a head count of how many rowers are going, she will let us know the per rower cost.

5. Novice T-shirts and Varsity Unisuits – If you are new to Brighton Rowing Club and have not already ordered your Novice T for regattas, please do so. If you are unable to get your Novice T in time for the Ohio trip, we can loan you one from a varsity rower.  All varsity rowers should have their Varsity unisuits. If not, and you need to borrow one, please contact Rhonda Miga (webmaster@brightoncrew.org) to see what we have to loan out.

Raffle Update: Unfortunately, we are going to have to cancel our Row Free Spring 2014 Raffle.  We did not sell enough tickets to run the raffle. Rhonda can cancel any checks received. If you purchased tickets with cash, please contact Rhonda for your refund.

Have a nice week!

Row Free Spring 2014 Raffle (may be cancelled)

Dear Families, I had a few parents come up to me at the parent meeting last week to say they wanted to make a donation toward our Row Free Spring 2014 Raffle.  If you would like to participate (1 chance for $25 or 3 chances for $50), please call me or message me ASAP.  957-1212

We have only collected $300 toward this fundraiser. We need to double that to even break even. Therefore, if we do not have any more takers for the raffle this season, we will cancel the drawing and return donations back to those who contributed.

Money collected from this yearly fundraiser is used toward our team end of season party and senior gifts. Drawing was to take place at the March 2014 parent meeting.  It was delayed until April 1, 2014 so families who mentioned a desire to donate money would have time to contribute. A decision for whether this raffle will take place or not will be made April 1, 2014.  Thank you for understanding.
