BRC News 3/29/15: Ready…row!

  1. “On-Water” practice begins Monday, 3/30 for Varsity and Novice. Meet at the boathouse by 3:45, dressed for the weather (layers, hat, gloves).  Wear running shoes in case it’s a land practice.  Modified begins 4/13.
  2. Team Roster was emailed to Varsity and Novice rowers and parents.  Modified will receive one next week.  Please let me know if you did not receive it: stephanie.siegrist@brightoncrew.org.
  3. Spring Season kick-off party at the Zelazny’s, Saturday, 4/11, 3PM.  Click Here to RSVP on the SignUp.
  4. Thank you to everyone who attended the Parent Meeting and shared their ideas.  Thank you especially to parents who have offered to serve critical volunteer roles:  Tracy Schleyer will handle fundraising and Becky Davidson is stepping into Hospitality Coordinator!
  5. Other critical Volunteer needs:  Regatta Director-in-Training, 2-3 Board Members-at-Large, Team Photographer/Reporter.  Please contact Volunteer Coordinator Tamie Dinolfo volunteer@brightoncrew.org!
  6. BRC Financial Update:  Irene Allen (Board Secretary/Program Director) has compiled an impressive report on our financial model that was reviewed at the Parent Meeting.  I will email a copy to all parents next week FYI.  The club is in solid shape thanks to its excellent stewards over the years!
  7. It’s never too early to SignUp for regatta duties!  Click Here to view the schedule, with links to each event and SignUp for tent work, food donations, etc…  Minor menu changes TBA.
  8. New Modified rowers welcome,  start 4/13/15.  Click Here for more info to share with middle-school neighbors and friends.  Learn-to-Row sessions will again be offered this summer to recruit members for Fall 2015.
  9. For parents who want a chance to experience rowing (the kids make it look easy!), Genesee Rowing Club Learn-to-Row sessions begin May 4 or June 8.  Several BRC parents have enjoyed this, and continue to row (and race!) with GRC.

  1. Parent Meeting Wednesday 3/25 at 7PM, BHS cafeteria.   Required for all Varsity and Novice families; Modified parents are welcome, too.  Many important training, travel and club updates will be discussed.   See you there!

  5. Registration:  Each rower should ensure that his/her registration and payment are up to date.  If Registrar David Moorthi has contacted you…please follow up!
  6. New Rowers Welcome!  Tell your friends!  BRC welcomes new Novice anytime to start on-water 3/30/15.  Modified  start 4/13/15.  Learn-to-Row sessions will again be offered this summer to recruit members for Fall 2015.

BRC News 3/15/15: Almost Spring!

  3. “On-Water” practice begins Monday, 3/30 for Varsity and Novice, during the school break. Modified begins 4/13.  Like last year, the river has frozen solid.  It may or may not be melted enough, or safe enough (debris and flow rate) at first.  We’ll discuss logistics at the Parent Meeting.
