BRC News 9/30/15: HOG, Fundraising, Volunteers

  1. Congratulations Varsity scullers and rowers on your excellent performance at both regattas in Washington DC last weekend!  BRC did well against a lot of crews on their home water.   A few adventurous souls experienced the 24x “largest rowing shell in the world.”  Thank you to all parents who drove, chaperoned and fed the team.  Mail in your regatta payments if you haven’t done so already.
  2. Head of the Genesee, Sunday, October 4: is our “home” regatta, for Novice and Varsity.
    1. Click Here for details, including links to the race schedule.  Coaches will announce line ups this week.  As of right now, it looks like 40% chance of rain, 60 degrees. Dress accordingly.
    2. Hospitality:  SignUp to bring a food item and help set-up/serve/pack-up.  Questions?  Please contact Becky Davidson, info on the SignUp.
    3. No Modified demonstration row this year (will be held at 10/29 practice, stay tuned!), but Modified rowers and families are invited to hang out at the tent and watch the racing.
    4. Volunteer at Head of the Genesee: BRC receives $$ for rowers and parents working with the regatta sponsors, usually $1500-$2000 each year!
      1. It’s a lot of fun, and many roles don’t require experience or rowing expertise; training is held as needed.
