BRC News 11/16/16: Erg Borrowing; Winter and Spring

  1. Dock Removal, Saturday, 11/19/16, 10AM:  GRC always takes the lead on taking docks out of the water each fall (and installing them again in spring).  They would appreciate BRC help with final boathouse clean-up for the season. Please come to the boathouse this Saturday…many hands make light work!  Bring gloves and clothes that can get a dirty.
  2. “Foster Erg Program”:  Ergs need a warm winter home away from the un-heated boathouse.  They are also in the way of where the dock pieces are stored.  Seven (7) ergs are available for BRC rowers to train at home until spring.
    1. Please let Peter Siegrist know if you want one (, 314-3539).
    2. Download this form, complete it and submit to Peter when you pick up the erg(s) (they separate into 2 fairly light sections, fit in a hatchback car).
    3. First dibs to those who come work at the boathouse this Saturday!  If you have room for 2 or more ergs, kids can train together.
  3. Looking forward to Winter and Spring:
    1. “Rowers earn their medals in the winter and pick them up in the spring”:  keep up your workouts and maintain your fitness!  Coach Chris Cistrone can share a science-based conditioning regimen with you to start anytime; contact him for more info.
    2. Experienced BRC rowers are welcome at GRC tanks sessions at the Pittsford Indoor Rowing Center.  Click Here for schedule and more info.  Register for a 6-week session or drop in whenever it’s convenient.  ($20/session drop-in fee.  Makes a great gift!  😉  )
    3. Winter training will begin in mid-January and likely be at the University of Rochester Rowing Dry Land Training Center.  Stay tuned for details.  Required for Varsity and Novice who do not play a winter sport, Modified rowers are welcome, too.
    4. No practice during February break, but practice WILL be held for Novice and Varsity during Easter break (4/14-21/17).  Rowers are expected at every practice.  Coaches expect that you don’t plan vacations, etc… during the Easter break.
