BRC News 5/14/17: Success at States; Syracuse Next

  1. Excellent performances by all BRC crews against very strong competition in Saratoga Springs at NY State Championships last weekend!  Congratulations and thank you to all BRC rowers, parents, coaches for all of your hard work.
    1. Novice Boys 4+, Club Silver (and a great story to tell)
    2. Novice Girls 8+, Club Bronze
    3. Varsity Girls 4+, Club Gold
    4. Varsity Girls 2x, Scholastic Silver, and a bid to compete at Scholastic Nationals.
  2. Syracuse Chargers Regatta, Saturday, May 20.  Details available on the Regatta Page.  Coaches will tell rowers what time to arrive, usually by 7:30AM.  Rowers will be either rigging boats or helping set up the BRC tent when they arrive.  Travel time from Rochester is a good 90 minutes by the time you park and walk to the site.  Spectators welcome: visit the SignUp and let us know how you will help out. There is no additional fee for this regatta; it’s included in registration for the season.
  3. TCMS Sports Assembly on Friday, May 26, 8-9AM is BRC’s most successful recruiting event.  About 6-8+ enthusiastic rowers needed, wearing BRC gear and medals, to chat up the rising 9th-graders.  More details about this, Summer Learn-to-Row Camps and National Learn-t0-Row Day on June 3 coming soon!
  4. Modified Rowers  have 4 more scheduled practices.  Because this spring’s weather has been so lousy, make-up practices are being planned.  Details TBA.
  5. Pittsford Regatta:  Sat/Sun, May 27-28.
  6. End-of-Season Picnic and Senior Send-off:  on Sunday May 28, 5-7PM at the Siegrist’s.  Rowers will present paper plate awards and honor the seniors.  Details TBA.
