Fall 2017 Registration

Registration is Open!

Season Registration Fees: Brighton Rowing Club (BRC) is a non-profit club.  All costs (coaches, equipment, facilities, insurance, etc.) are covered by member fees.   Fees are based on enrollment in the program and the number of expected local regattas that BRC will participate in. We work to keep fees as low as possible and similar from year to year. BRC has eliminated all mandatory fund-raising minimums and buyouts, rolling these into the dues.

Athletes must complete registration for the season prior to the first practice or they will not be allowed on the water and will participate in land practice only.

10 Step Registration Checklist

1.

Determine Athlete/Team Level

We welcome boys and girls in grades 7 – 12 from any school districts, not just Brighton. We do not recruit from schools/localities that have their own rowing programs. No prior experience is required; many of our participants start out new to rowing.

BRC Registration – Fall 2017

Novice: Open to High school students who are new to rowing (participation in a Learn to Row program is not required).  Athletes are generally on the Novice team for two competitive seasons (Fall and Spring) before moving to the Varsity Team or move up at the next academic year boundary (August 1st).

Varsity: Open to High school students who have completed one to two competitive seasons as a Novice.

Modified Program: Open to 7th and 8th graders, who are not yet eligible to compete in regattas. Modified programs are held throughout the year.

NEW Fall 2017 Modified Program OPEN.  Modified rowers have a new program available with Coach Bex – Learn to Row class is not required.  The Modified practices will be offered on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:30 -7 p.m.  You may register for one day a week or two days a week. **Modified athletes do not need to complete Travel Permission form.
*If you are unsure which level is appropriate for your child, contact the Head Coach: Rebecca “Bex” Merusi,  bex@brightoncrew.org

Review Attendance Policy & Code of Conduct forms

BRC is a competitive program and we expect commitment to improvement, and the highest levels of teamwork, sportsmanship, and integrity from the young people who will represent BRC as ambassadors of the sport at local, regional, and national levels. In return, our athletes experience one of the most rewarding lifelong sports.

Please review these forms prior to registering so that parents and athletes are aware of the club’s expectations. They must be signed by athlete and parent at the beginning of each season of participation. Bring to the parent meeting or email to: registrar@brightoncrew.org.

Sign up for Parking Lot Parent

A parent is needed to supervise pick-up at the end of each regular season practice.  Our coaches have other responsibilities that may require them to leave before all rowers have gone home.  To ensure kids’ safety, a responsible adult will supervise team members until the last rower is picked up.  Each family should sign up for 2 – 3 days using SignUp Genius; new members will need to create an account:
